Prototyping
2024-2025
After various experiments and the creation of first prototypes, the idea of Terra Engine takes shape: first lines of code, a matured vision, and technical groundwork are established. This internal phase, not open to external testers, validates feasibility and structures the simulator's core.

Establishing the technical foundations, core systems, and first simulation mechanics. This stage sets up the engine architecture and main modules, ensuring Terra Engine's consistency, flexibility, and scalability.
Application Foundations

Creation of the user interface and program basics, adding an interactive 3D globe with filters and navigation tools.
WorlDB
Done
Central database and editing tools to manage all simulator entities. A command-line tool allows importing, processing, and optimizing data from external sources.
Modding

Adding a basic modding system: events, actions, effects, translations easily configurable via files.
Simulation Engine

Development of the simulation core: time management, tick sequencing, save/load, event and state management. The engine orchestrates world evolution and system synchronization.
Basic Leader AI
Done
First version of leader artificial intelligence: each leader acts autonomously, makes decisions, manages relationships, and reacts to events based on objectives, context, and relations.
Politics

Structuring main regimes: democracies (elections), monarchies (dynastic succession), and dynastic unions. Each country has a political system with roles, powers, and succession or election rules.
Diplomatic Relations
Done
Setting up an opinion system between countries and leaders, influenced by history, culture, language, and religion. Leaders' actions and events can modify these opinions, reflecting the evolution of international relations in the simulation.
Geospatial Phenomena & Natural Disasters
Done
Implementation of a geospatial phenomena system to represent localized events on the map. Natural disasters (earthquakes, cyclones, volcanic eruptions) are the first use of this system, with visible impacts on territories and populations.
Economy
Done
Macroeconomic simulation with monthly GDP calculation per territory. Management of economic states (growth, stagnation, recession), key indicators (GDP, unemployment, inflation, debt), economic policies, and country development level.
Attributes and Resources

Each country and leader has attributes and resources that define their abilities, progression, and interactions in the simulation.

Projects let you plan, track, and advance actions over time, such as missions, reforms, or learning. Completing a project can trigger effects or events in the simulation.
Leader Agenda
Integration of an agenda for each leader, centralizing task management: action planning, progress tracking, priority management, and interactions with simulator events. The agenda reflects user choices and leader autonomy.
Society, Public Opinion & Political Life

Adding social groups, political stability, and first election mechanisms to simulate society's influence on political life.
Population & Social Groups
Setting up a basic structure to represent the population, organized into social or interest groups with general characteristics inspired by real data. These groups will serve as the foundation for social and political dynamics in the simulator.
Stability & Political Legitimacy
Adding a global stability and legitimacy system, influenced by the opinion and well-being of social groups. This system will impact governance and major political events in the simulator.

Open to Partnerships
Terra Engine also aims for educational and associative use: possible collaborations with teachers, researchers, institutions, or associations wishing to use the simulation for educational or research purposes.
